How Little Sprigs handles your family's information

The short version: your child's progress lives on your own device under a nickname you choose. We run no ads, no trackers and no analytics. The only personal information we ever hold is what you, the parent, give us: an email for the waitlist, your child's nickname and stars if you turn on backup, or payment details held by Stripe when you subscribe. This page explains all of it; nothing is hidden in the long version because there isn't one.

Who we are

Little Sprigs is made in Ireland by Little Sprigs Limited, 22 Crieve Mor Avenue, Crievesmith, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, Ireland (company number 825865) ("we"). We are the data controller for everything described here. For anything about your data, email privacy@littlesprigs.ie.

Your child, in the app

The optional progress backup (family code)

If you turn on backup in For Grown-ups, the app creates a random code (like abcd-efgh-jkmn) and keeps a copy of the save file — nicknames, avatars, star counts and a random number for each child that the app uses to tell them apart, nothing else — against that code on our hosting provider's storage, so progress can move between your own devices and survive a wiped browser.

When you subscribe

You pay in Stripe's secure card form on our checkout page; your card number goes straight to Stripe and never touches our servers. Stripe (as its own regulated entity) holds your name, email and payment details. What we hold is only your family code together with the subscription's status, plan, start and renewal dates, and Stripe's reference numbers for your customer record and subscription — enough for the app to know which sets to open, and for Stripe to recognise you if you subscribe again. If you withdraw within the first 14 days, the name you type goes only into the email confirming it.

The waitlist, feedback and email

If you join the waitlist we store exactly what the form asks: your email, an optional first name, and (optionally) which class your child is in. We use it for one thing — emailing you about the Little Sprigs launch and the founding-family offer — never anything else, and we never share or sell it. Every email tells you how to stop them, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time. Waitlist details are deleted 6 months after the launch campaign ends. Legal basis: your consent (the tick-box on the form), withdrawable any time.

The same applies if you gave us your email in the September 2026 taster round: we promised you the founding-family price when Little Sprigs opens, so your email address is kept as a waitlist entry under exactly the same rules, and nothing else from the round is kept with your name or email on it. Automatic emails, such as the waitlist welcome, are sent through Resend, using its EU sending region, which processes your email address only to deliver them.

Our feedback forms, for parents trying Little Sprigs and for teachers on a classroom trial, store your answers. Your email, and for teachers your school's name, are optional. We use the answers only to make Little Sprigs better and your email only to reply to you, and we never share or sell them. The forms never ask for a child's name or anything that identifies a child; please don't write a child's name in them. When a test round ends, parents' answers are kept only as anonymous notes, with names and emails removed. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving Little Sprigs.

If you email us (hello@, support@, schools@, privacy@), we keep the correspondence as long as needed to help you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.

In classrooms

Classroom mode stores nothing about any pupil: no register, no names, no per-child records, on the school device or anywhere else. The only things saved on the device are the board's own settings (classroom mode, the order the school teaches the sounds in, and where the class is up to) and today's activity log, which clears overnight or with one button. This is deliberate: a school can use Little Sprigs without handing us any pupil data at all.

During a free classroom trial, teachers may send us feedback through a short form. The school's name and the teacher's email are optional, and the form never asks about pupils. We use the answers only to improve Little Sprigs, and the email only to reply. Teachers' answers are deleted 6 months after the trial ends.

A teacher who needs the trial's password can ask for it on our trial page by giving their name, their school's name and their email. We use these only for the trial: to email the password straight away, and to write to them twice while it runs, once halfway and once near the end. We never share or sell them, and we delete them 6 months after the trial ends. The form never asks about pupils. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running the trial.

Who processes data for us

We choose services that never see your child and never track anyone:

ServiceWhat they do for usWhat they hold
Netlify (website host)Serve the app and website; store form entries, family-code backups and subscription status; keep the daily usage countsForm entries; backup save files keyed by random code; subscription status keyed by code
Stripe (payments)Checkout, subscriptions, renewal reminders, the cancel/manage portalYour name, email, payment details, billing history
Google Workspace (email)Our mailboxesEmails you send us
Resend (email delivery)Delivers the emails we send you automaticallyYour email address and the message, for delivery logs

Like every website, our host sees your device's IP address when it sends you a page, and keeps it in its security logs for 90 days, then in an offline archive for up to a year. We don't use it for anything else. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping Little Sprigs running and secure.

Netlify, Stripe, Resend and Google are US companies (Resend sends from its EU region). Each is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as giving personal data the same protection as in the EU, and that is what covers any of your data they handle in the US. As a second protection, our agreement with each of them also includes the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses, which would cover your data if the Framework ever stopped applying. Email privacy@littlesprigs.ie for a copy.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see, correct, delete, or hand over the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to our using it, or withdraw a consent you gave. Email privacy@littlesprigs.ie and we will answer within a month. Deleting the app's data yourself is also real deletion: clearing the site's data on your device removes the save file, and turning off backup removes our copy.

We make no automated decisions about anyone and do no profiling. The in-lesson practice described above decides nothing about a child and keeps nothing.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), Ireland's supervisory authority.

Changes

We may update this policy, for example when we add a feature or when the law changes. If a change matters, we will say so plainly on this page before it takes effect and, if you are a subscriber or on the waitlist, by email. We will never quietly lower the bar for your child's privacy. The date and version below show the current policy.
